How To Make the Most of Spring Skiing in Park City

How To Make the Most of Spring Skiing in Park City

The latest storm that made its way through the Wasatch Mountains left us with the gift of 30" of new snow at Park City Mountain Resort (as if we needed another reason to be excited about spring skiing this year)!

March is such a great time to visit Park City, as the weather is starting to warm up, the days are getting longer, and the ski season is still in full swing.  We have about a month and a half left in the season to take advantage of all of this awesome snow (PCMR closes on April 9th; Deer Valley TBD), so here is your guide to make the most of it and all of my recommendations for spring skiing in Park City.

1)  Come prepared!

Luckily, arriving at Salt Lake City airport for a ski trip is super easy as there is an entire checked bag carousel just for ski bags, and Park City is a quick 35 minute Uber ride up the pass.  If you'd rather rent gear when you get into town, you can reserve it in advance on the mountain, visit one of the many rental shops, or rent from a valet service like Ski Butlers that will fit your gear for you in the comfort of your Airbnb or hotel.

2)  Watch the weather and bring sunscreen!

A big reason why spring skiing is the best (in my opinion), is the warm weather!  When the sun comes out on the mountain, the temp warms up - fast!  I suggest wearing light layers and bringing a backpack so you can adjust to the weather (or if you're moving between sunny and shady part of the mountain).  And don't forget your sunscreen and sunglasses!

3)  Apres the day away!

Who doesn't love having an ice cold beer on the mountain - especially on a warm, sunny, spring day?!  Here are a few of my favorite apres ski spots where you can enjoy a refreshing beverage:

- The Vintage Room @ Deer Valley - the ultimate apres/dance party scene right outside the St Regis (be careful not to stay too late and miss the last lift to take you back over to the main lodge if that's where you're parked).

- Snow Park Lodge @ Deer Valley - chill out in the beach chairs in between the lodge and the Silver Lake Express & Carpenter Express lift lines.

- Mid-Mountain Lodge @ Park City Mountain - grab a fireside spot and soak in the sun rays.

- Tombstone Grill @ Canyons Resort - a great spot for lunch and a beer.  After the break, take Tombstone Express over to Peak 5 chair for an awesome run through the mansions in The Colony.

- The Pendry @ Canyons Village - if you're done skiing for the day, check out this rooftop location with great views of the mountain.

4)  Hit the Town on Main Street

A night out on the town is the perfect compliment after a ski day (and a visit to the hot tub to ease sore muscles).  I recommend you make restaurant recommendations in advance of your trip to make sure you get a table at a good spot in town, like Butcher's Chop House, Yuki Yama Sushi, or Riverhorse on Main.

After dinner, hit The Spur for live music in the back bar!

5)  Schedule a Spa Day

Another great compliment to a ski trip is, of course, a spa day!  Park City is home to some amazing spas.  Make sure you book in advance if possible!

- Waldorf Astoria Spa: The Waldorf Astoria Spa at Park City is a luxurious, award-winning spa that offers a range of treatments and services, including massages, facials, body treatments, and more. The spa features 15 treatment rooms, a private couple's suite, a salon, and a fitness center. Guests can also enjoy the spa's amenities, which include steam rooms, saunas, hot tubs, and a heated outdoor pool.

- Remède Spa: The Remède Spa at the St. Regis Deer Valley is another top-rated spa in Park City. This world-class spa features 11 treatment rooms, including a private couple's suite, and offers a range of services, including massages, facials, body treatments, and more. Guests can also enjoy the spa's amenities, which include a steam room, sauna, hot tub, and heated outdoor pool. The spa's signature treatment, the Remède Customized Massage, is highly recommended.

I hope this guide to a spring ski trip was helpful in planning your next trip out to Park City this season!  With the amazing amounts of snow we've gotten this year, I hope you can make it up to see all that this beautiful town has to offer, and let me know when you're in town so we can grab a beer on the mountain!
